Low Level ToiletThe low level toilet has a completely separate cistern and w.c. pan, which are connected by a flush pipe. This type of toilet is typically available in period style, or in a very basic toilet mainly for commercial use. |

This Buchingham is a typical Edwardian
style low level toilet. The flush pipe is finished in chrome and the cistern
is only available in the lever flush type.
If you are positioning a low level toilet below a window,
make sure that the window sill is high enough to allow the cistern to
be fixed below. |
High Level ToiletThe high level is basically the same
as the low level toilet, except that the cistern is mounted much higher
up, and the flush mechanism is worked by a pull chain. These are only
used now in specialist period designs and as such are really only produced
in limited numbers. |

| This Trent Waverley is one of only a
few high level toilets still readily available. The flush pipe is chrome,
as are the cistern mounting brackets. The
cistern is a lever flush operated by a pull chain. |

With both low and high
level toilets the water supply normally feeds into the side of the cistern,
and an overflow connection is required. |
