A standard basin waste fitting
with a plug and chain. There is a slot in the barrel of the fitting
which allows water from the overflow channel to be drained away.
This is called a slotted basin
waste.
|
 |
This push button,
or click-clack waste fitting is also slotted for an overflow, but instead
of having a separate plug it is sealed by pressing the dome top down.
A further press will release the top and open the waste again. |
 |
The flip top waste is similar
to the push button but has a plug seal which turns to open or close. |
 |
A free flowing waste
has dome top but it does not seal, meaning that the water will continuously
flow away. This is designed for use with basins which do not have an
overflow and so there is no slot in the barrel.

A pop up waste fitting is
usually supplied as part of a mixer tap, and the waste can be opened
or closed by means of a system of levers and a knob which usually fits
through a channel in the back of the tap body. |
