The basin grab bar can be available in several different lengths, but the usual is around 300mm. It is normally best mounted at a slight angle as shown. This makes it easier to grip as you stand up from the bathing position. A wall mounted grip is much more useful as an aid to rising from your bath than a bath mounted grip. Because it it fixed to the wall and above shoulder height when you are lying in the bath, it is easier to use and provides more leverage than a grip mounted on the bath rim. Naturally it is important to ensure that the grab bar has a firm fixing in the wall as it can be required to support considerable weights. |
This illustration shows a
cranked grab bar which is particularly useful for those who have difficulty
standing up in the bath. The shape makes it ideal for providing a firm
grip as you climb into or out of your bath and theangled section is
just right for getting up from your bathing position. |
